Welcome to the Hope Collection of 2019.
THE
INSPIRATION
Hope – is it Emily Dickinson's "thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without the words and never stops at all" Or Nietscshe's "worst of all evils for it prolongs the torment of man"?
It took me longer than usual this year to find the right name for the collection and I have to thank my niece and ace photographer Ellie (EllieReedMumford on Instagram) who simply texted me one day – "with all that is going on in the world right now surely the H must be for Hope?"
I have also listened to Stephen Fry's Mythos this year – a great listen for all you need to know about mythology.
I have continued the chiaroscuro theme this year, the dark pieces being pieces like "loop noir" tiny black diamond hoop earrings and "sapfire day" and "sapfire night" have real contrast with the bright white sapphires and rose cut diamonds and dark blue sapphires in black gold.

I wanted to showcase some really unusual stones in this collection so look out for the "charoite" a beautiful purple, black and grey stone from Siberia and the "hypersthene" a lovely black smooth one with its own inner sparkle meaning "over strength" and finally fluorite which apparently "helps you know when there are external forces trying to control or manipulate you". We could have done with some of that during the US elections!
I have also continued the recycling, or upcycling as I must learn to call it. "Floral flappers" started life as a bit of a sad and broken Victorian brooch no one would have looked at, are now beautiful asymmetrical pair earrings which just happened to be the first piece to sell tonight.
So with my usual bucket loads of thanks to you, whilst you ponder which of Emily Dickinson or Nietzshe was right in their interpretation of "Hope", I will leave you to mull on a quote from Victor Havel "Hope is not the conviction that something will turn out well but the certainty that something will make sense regardless of how it turns out."
