Even people without an interest in jewellery and gemstones are often aware of their birthstone. Emanating from enduring beliefs of the virtues and supernatural powers of stones, certain gems are credited by astrologers and spiritualists as being associated with the celestial, and as representing reflections of personality and self in their owners. Associated with the months of the year, people from the Middle Ages onwards would often wear certain stones in certain months to bring good fortune and good health, a practice which soon developed into a more commonplace desire of individuals to wear the gemstone corresponding to the month of their birth all year round. The belief was that doing so would enhance your own being, bringing to the owner an enhanced sense of self as well as the characteristics and luck associated with that particular gemstone.
Today people remain fascinated by their birthstone, so we have listed the full monthly associations here. You will find many of the listed stones featured in our current and past collections, but of course if you would like to discuss a bespoke birthstone commission with our design team, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss the ideal design with you.
